Dadeldhura: Hundreds of households in Lekuda village of Bhageshwor Rural Municipality in Dadeldhura have been waiting for electricity for years. According to local resident Dammari Joshi, electricity supply has not started despite the installation of electricity poles in the village.

She complained that the work has not progressed even after repeated assurances during election periods. She said the installed poles are currently being used as drying racks and for storing grass. Similarly, Bhim Bahadur Budhamagar of Odakhan in Bhageshwor Rural Municipality said that the absence of electricity has adversely affected students’ studies. He noted that charging mobile phones is difficult and that solar panels function only on sunny days.

More than 1,000 households in Dadeldhura district are still without access to electricity. According to the Nepal Electricity Authority Distribution Center, 1,021 households across all seven local levels of the district remain unelectrified.

Electricity has not reached 60 households in Amargadhi Municipality, the district headquarters. In Parashuram Municipality, 308 households remain without electricity, including settlements such as Basauti, Salon, Haldwari, Rajauda, Simalbanda, Kunda and surrounding areas.

Similarly, 189 households in Alital Rural Municipality, 148 in Bhageshwor Rural Municipality, 85 in Nawadurga Rural Municipality, 100 in Ajayameru Rural Municipality and 131 in Ganyapadhura Rural Municipality are still without electricity.

According to Kapil Joshi, Chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority Distribution Center, Dadeldhura, electricity has reached 30,151 out of the district’s total 31,172 households. He said that efforts are ongoing to electrify the remaining households in line with the goal of providing electricity access to all citizens.
