Joshi and Malla eye House of Representatives race, plan to step down from provincial assembly
Dhangadhi: Two members of the Sudurpaschim Provincial Assembly are preparing to resign from their provincial posts to contest the upcoming House of Representatives elections. Dr. Tara Prasad Joshi of Dadeldhura, who was elected as an independent, and Chakra Bahadur Malla of Doti, elected from the CPN-UML, are making preparations to enter the federal electoral race.
Malla, who was elected from Doti Provincial Assembly Constituency (1), has been recommended as a candidate for the House of Representatives from Doti. He said he is ready to contest the election if the party grants him a ticket. “If the party gives me a ticket to contest the election, I am prepared to do so. I am currently holding discussions within the party ranks for election preparations,” Malla said.
Dr. Tara Prasad Joshi, an independent provincial assembly member elected from Dadeldhura Provincial Constituency No. (2), has recently joined the Rastriya Swatantra Party. Joshi, who entered the party through the Ujjaj Nepal Party, said he is engaged in discussions and consultations regarding his potential candidacy for the House of Representatives. “I have not yet reached a conclusion about contesting the election. I am in discussions and consultations,” he said, adding that a decision on whether to run will be made within a few days.
