Preparations underway to distribute land ownership certificates to 150 beneficiaries in Darchula
Darchula: The Land Problem Resolution Commission District Committee, Darchula, is preparing to distribute land ownership certificates to an additional 150 unorganized settlers, landless and squatters in the district.
According to Lekam Rural Municipality Chairperson and Municipal-level Facilitation Committee Chief Ramdatta Joshi, preparations are being made to distribute the certificates in accordance with the law following a meeting of the municipal-level land problem resolution facilitation committee. He stated that coordination has been carried out for distributing land ownership certificates to 150 unorganized settlers who have applied from all six wards of the rural municipality. Work is also underway to allocate land to landless, squatters and unorganized settlers who have reached the procedural stage.
Earlier, the commission had distributed land ownership certificates to 80 individuals from various local levels, informed Lal Singh Dhami, Chairman of the Land Problem Resolution Commission District Committee, Darchula. Among them, 52 were from Shailyashikhar Municipality, 19 from Duhu Rural Municipality, 7 from Mahakali Municipality and 4 from Naugad Rural Municipality. Out of a total of 3,333 applicants, 2,803 are new and 530 are incomplete cases, with 80 certificates already distributed.
The commission stated that 3,253 individuals are yet to receive land ownership certificates. Additionally, more than 500 forms have yet to be entered into the register due to the commission’s system not being operational, and certificates are still pending for those without land plots and those holding white certificates.
Chairman Dhami informed that the process of providing certificates to unorganized settlers, landless and squatters who have been entered into the commission’s register has also progressed. He added that the certificates distributed so far were issued after completing necessary procedures, including land surveys, documentation and revenue collection, as per the Procedure for Collecting Data of Landless Squatters, Unorganized Settlers and Landless Dalits, 2078 BS.
According to the commission, the number of landless Dalits, squatters and unorganized settlers in the district includes 431 in Mahakali Municipality, 628 in Shailyashikhar Municipality, 173 in Lekam Rural Municipality, 327 in Naugad Rural Municipality, 168 in Marma Rural Municipality, 691 in Api Himal Rural Municipality, 947 in Malikarjun Rural Municipality, 161 in Duhu Rural Municipality and 266 in Byas Rural Municipality.
