Kathmandu: Officials of Tribhuvan University have sent their resignations to the Prime Minister’s Office through their staff. The resignation letters were also sent to the WhatsApp of the Chancellor and Prime Minister’s Private Secretary Pradeep Pariyar.

“We have submitted our resignations. We have sent the letter to the Prime Minister’s Office,” said Rector Prof. Dr. Khadga KC.

Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal, Rector Prof. Dr. Khadga KC, and Registrar Prof. Dr. Kedar Prasad Rijal have resigned.

They have stated that their resignation paves the way for the new government to work smoothly.

Vice-Chancellor Aryal was appointed when KP Sharma Oli was Prime Minister. He assumed office on Asad 25, 2082, after Prof. Dr. Keshar Jung Baral resigned from the post of Vice-Chancellor.

Rector KC and Registrar Rijal were appointed during the tenure of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. They were appointed on Chaitra 30, 2080, on the recommendation of then Vice-Chancellor Baral. The tenure of TU office bearers is four years.

However, it is stated that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which secured close to two-thirds of the votes, had urged those holding politically appointed positions to step aside. As the government was preparing to bring an ordinance, they resigned, and the decision has been made by TU officials.

The Council of Ministers meeting held on 14 Baisakh had recommended the ordinance to President Poudel, who is currently reviewing it.
