‘Sudurpashchim Kachahari 2083’ to Be Held to Showcase the Province’s Potential and Prosperity
Dhangadhi: A large-scale dialogue program titled “Sudurpashchim Kachahari 2083” is set to be organized with the aim of promoting the overall development, prosperity, and policy reforms of Sudurpashchim Province.
The event, scheduled to take place in Dhangadhi on Jestha 2 and 3 (mid-May), is currently under intensive preparation, organizers informed during a press conference held on Wednesday. The program is being organized by the Sudurpashchim Development Foundation.
Foundation Chairperson Sher Bahadur Shahi expressed confidence that the extensive dialogue program, being organized in coordination with the Sudurpashchim Province Policy and Planning Commission, would help highlight the province’s potential and prospects for prosperity.
The program will focus on policy-level discussions related to education, health, tourism, employment, agriculture, infrastructure, safe migration, and good governance, with the objective of developing a shared vision for regional development.
Shahi stated that the conclusions and recommendations generated from the program would be formally submitted to the federal government for inclusion in Nepal’s upcoming budget and policymaking process.
“Sudurpashchim Province has immense potential. Through this broad dialogue, we want to bring those possibilities to national and international attention,” said Chairperson Shahi. “We will provide the suggestions collected through the program in written form to both the provincial and federal governments.”
According to the concept paper unveiled during the press conference, Sudurpashchim Province is rich in historical, cultural, natural, and tourism potential, yet it has not achieved the level of development expected.
The paper also notes that challenges such as poverty, unemployment, weak infrastructure, unequal access to education and healthcare, youth migration, and ineffective policy implementation still persist in the province.
Chairperson Shahi added that the program aims to bring development-related discussions onto a common platform and strengthen coordination and collaboration among the government, private sector, and local communities.
Speaking at the press conference, Nrip Sunar, a member of the Sudurpashchim Province Policy and Planning Commission, said the event is expected to generate concrete conclusions regarding development priorities, investment-friendly policies, tourism promotion, youth employment, and policy reforms.
He noted that such dialogue programs help create consistency in policies and plans while building common understanding on key development issues.
According to him, the event will also prepare practical recommendations and action plans for the long-term development of Sudurpashchim, which will be publicly released as the “Sudurpashchim Declaration.”
The two-day event is expected to witness participation from representatives of the federal, provincial, and local governments, as well as the private sector, banks and financial institutions, civil society, media personnel, and experts.
The press conference was moderated by Secretary Pavindra Shahi.
