Ward Member Killed After Being Hit by Falling Rock in Bajura

Kathmandu: A female ward member has died after being struck by a rock that fell from a cliff in Budhiganga Municipality of Bajura district.

According to the District Police Office, Bajura, the deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Kalpana Devi Thapa, a ward member from Budhiganga Municipality–3.

Information Officer at the District Police Office, Inspector Naresh Bahadur Shahi, said the incident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. this evening.

According to Inspector Shahi, Ward Member Thapa, a resident of Guingad in Budhiganga–3, was returning home on foot from Phalasain Bazaar in Budhiganga Municipality–6 when a rock fell from a cliff and struck her.

Local residents informed police that the impact of the falling rock pushed her off the foot trail, causing her to fall approximately 50 meters down to the road below.

Inspector Shahi stated that Thapa died on the spot. He also confirmed that a police team has already been deployed to the incident site.
