Pregnant woman from Humla airlifted by Nepal Army after prolonged labor complications
Bajura: A pregnant woman from Humla has been rescued by a Nepali Army helicopter after her health condition became critical.
Nineteen-year-old Lalita Nepali of Sarkegad Rural Municipality-1 in Humla was airlifted to Surkhet today after she was unable to deliver her baby even after six days of labor pains.
According to the District Administration Office, Bajura, Nepali had reached Kolti Basic Hospital in Budhinanda Municipality for treatment, where her condition worsened. She was then referred to a well-equipped hospital for further care. Chief District Officer Dorendra Niraula informed that she was transported to Karnali Provincial Hospital in Surkhet by a Nepali Army helicopter in coordination with the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens.
Kolti Basic Hospital stated that the patient was referred after experiencing continuous labor pain for six days without delivery, along with continuous discharge of water from her genitals.
The government has been operating a free air rescue service through the Nepal Army under the President's Women Upliftment Program to provide emergency health services to pregnant and postpartum women in critical conditions in remote areas.
