Temporary security posts to be established in Ranisain following incident

Bajura: A temporary Border Outpost (BOP) along with posts of the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police will be established in the Ranisain area of Himali Rural Municipality to ensure the protection and security of citizens.

On Jestha 15, an incident occurred in Ranisain Lampata of Himali Rural Municipality-3, where locals from Humla assaulted ward member Pemagara Gurung and held him hostage for three days. In a related incident, locals from Kharpunath Rural Municipality in Humla also assaulted residents of Ranisain Lampata. The incidents came to light on Jestha 16, prompting authorities to decide on setting up a temporary BOP and police posts in the area jointly by the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police.

Chief District Officer Dorendra Niraula informed that the decision to establish a BOP and temporary police post in Lampata, Ranisain, was made during a Home Ministry secretary-level meeting held a week ago.

Referring to the incident that took place in Ranisain on Jestha 30, Chief District Officer Niraula stated that the security posts will be set up in line with the decision of the Home Ministry to enhance protection in the area and ensure citizens’ safety.

A security team comprising 21 personnel led by Armed Police Force officer Janak Poudel and seven personnel led by a Police Assistant Inspector has already been deployed to Lampata in Himali Rural Municipality.

Those injured in the incidents in Lampata, Ranisain include Kul Bahadur Thapa, Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality; 34-year-old ward member of Ward No. 3, Pemagara Gurung; his wife, 33-year-old Laxmi Gurung; 24-year-old local resident Minu Kunwar; and Police Assistant Sub-Inspector Mahesh Dhami, who was stationed at Bichhya Police Post.
