Metropolitan Police resume regular duty in Kathmandu
Kathmandu: The Metropolitan Police operating under Kathmandu Metropolitan City have returned to their regular duties from today.
On Ashad 10, Ganesh Nepali of Mugu attempted self-immolation following an argument during a traffic operation. After the incident, Nepal Police arrested three municipal police officers for investigation.
Following the incident, municipal police had suspended activities including the removal of illegally parked vehicles and street patrols. The issue drew further criticism after Ganesh Nepali, who was receiving treatment, died at Bir Hospital.
The municipal police, who had resumed limited operations on the streets from Tuesday, have now returned to regular duty. They are currently active in removing illegally parked vehicles in areas including New Road.
