Heavy rain warning in Darchula, administration urges high alert

Darchula: Based on the weather forecast of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the District Administration Office, Darchula, has urged the general public to adopt high alert in view of the possible very heavy rain.

According to the information released by Chief District Officer Yagyaraj Poudel on July 2, monsoon activity is expected to become more active on Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3. During this period, moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is expected in many places in the country, and very heavy rainfall is likely in one or two places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Sudurpaschim Province.

As the risk of floods, landslides, erosion and mudslides may increase in various areas of Darchula, the administration has requested the citizens and concerned agencies to take necessary precautions to minimize possible damage.

The administration has urged people not to travel far outside their homes during this period, especially at night, except for essential work. In addition, people have been warned not to go to areas with high risk of flooding and landslides such as river banks, streams and cliffs.

The administration has requested residents of settlements near rivers, streams, ravines and under cliffs to be especially vigilant during rains and to be ready to move to safer places if necessary.

To make disaster response effective, all relevant agencies, including the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, local levels and volunteers, have been instructed to be on standby. In addition, relevant agencies have been asked to keep equipment such as dozers, excavators and loaders ready to immediately remove possible road obstructions.
