484,450 livestock vaccinated against various diseases in Kailali in a year

Dhangadhi: Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center Kailali has vaccinated 484,450 livestock against various diseases during the last fiscal year 2082/83.

The Expert Center conducted vaccination programs for buffaloes, cattle, cows, goats and other livestock across all 13 local levels of Kailali district.

According to Vijay Ram Damai, Information Officer of the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center Kailali, 268,000 sheep and goats were vaccinated with the PPR vaccine, while 156,600 cattle and buffaloes were vaccinated against cholera.

Similarly, 37,000 cattle were vaccinated against lumpy skin disease, 20,850 pigs against classical swine fever, and 2,000 community and pet dogs against rabies, according to Damai.

The Expert Center stated that 25 animal technicians have been deployed across the district to conduct the vaccination campaign.

In the previous fiscal year 2081/82, the Expert Center had vaccinated 699,909 livestock in the district against various diseases.

According to the center, 293,650 cattle and buffaloes were vaccinated against cholera, 267,000 sheep and goats against PPR, and 48,000 cattle and buffaloes against lumpy skin disease during the previous fiscal year.

Similarly, 250 pigs were vaccinated against classical swine fever, while 1,090 community and pet dogs were vaccinated against rabies, the Expert Center stated.
