NCP Doti recommends candidates for House of Representatives and National assembly polls
Doti: The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Doti has recommended candidates for the upcoming House of Representatives and National Assembly elections.
A party meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of former Maoist Center Doti District In-charge Trilochan Bhatta decided to recommend candidates for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Falgun 21 and the National Assembly elections to be held on Magh 11.
Bharat Bahadur Bohara (Yogendra) has been unanimously recommended as the sole candidate from Doti for the National Assembly elections. Bohara, who played a key role as a skilled commander during the ten-year armed people’s war, is regarded within the party as an honest, disciplined, and capable organizer. Having spent 32 years in active politics, he has not held any profit-oriented position but has continuously carried out executive responsibilities for the party.
During the period of unification between the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Center, Bohara served as a provincial committee member of the Nepal Communist Party and is currently a member of the party’s provincial secretariat. He had earlier been narrowly defeated in the 2074 local level elections for the post of chairperson of Adarsh Rural Municipality and had been repeatedly recommended from Provincial Assembly Constituency No. 1. This time, he has been unanimously recommended as the single candidate from Doti for the National Assembly, a decision that party cadres have welcomed as a fair evaluation of his contribution.
For the direct election of members to the House of Representatives, the party has recommended Harak Bahadur Singh, Jung BK, Anjita Shrestha, Siddharaj BK, Bir Bahadur Thapa, Dhan Bahadur Bista, and Prakash Joshi. According to the party, former Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatta and Constituent Assembly member Harak Bahadur Singh have been recommended under the Khas Arya category; Jung BK and Siddharaj BK under the Dalit category; Anjita Shrestha under women/indigenous groups; Dhan Bahadur Bista under the youth category; and Bir Bahadur Thapa and Prakash Joshi under the new youth category. Thapa, representing the youth wing, is the chair of Akhil (Revolutionary) Sudurpaschim, while Joshi is the in-charge of YCL Doti.
For proportional representation, the party has recommended Gorakh Bahadur Sarki, Krishna Darlami, Purna Joshi, Srichandra Shrestha, Sita Rayamajhi, Dil Bahadur Kathayat, Dambar Gharti, Nandalal BK, Double Tamrakar, and Laxman Nath Yogi. NCP Doti stated that inclusiveness, experience, and contribution to the organization were the main criteria used in recommending candidates.
