Dhangadhi: Nepali citizens who had arrived at the Gaurifanta checkpoint in Kailali this morning have been permitted to enter Nepal after coordination with the District Administration Office.

The Nepal-India border has been sealed since 12 midnight on Monday due to election security measures. However, 25 individuals who needed to return home for urgent reasons were allowed entry after verification by the Armed Police Force Nepal and the Indian Border Security Force in coordination with higher authorities.

Those allowed to enter included patients, caregivers accompanying patients, and individuals returning due to the death of a relative at home. Necessary documents were checked before entry was permitted.

Shivraj Joshi, Administrative Officer of the District Administration Office, advised the public to avoid traveling from India to Nepal during the border closure and requested that citizens plan to return only in time to reach Nepal by the morning of Falgun 22, following the elections on Falgun 21.

The District Administration Office, Kailali, stated that entry was granted considering the special circumstances of the 25 individuals and urged travelers to follow government advisories while planning their journey.
