Far-west province allocates equalization grant to 88 local levels
Dhangadhi: The Far West Provincial Government has decided to provide a total of Rs 918 million in equalization grants to 88 local levels across the province for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84.
According to a circular issued by the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the province, the amount will be allocated on three bases. Of the total, Rs 158 million will be distributed as a minimum grant, Rs 72 million will be allocated based on a formula, and Rs 36 million will be distributed based on performance evaluation.
In the current fiscal year 2082/83, the provincial government had allocated Rs 900 million in equalization grants for local levels. According to the ministry, the grant will be released in three installments, of which two installments have already been disbursed.
This time as well, Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City is set to receive the highest grant, with an allocation of Rs 27.007 million for the next fiscal year. Bhimdatta Municipality ranks second, receiving Rs 24.259 million.
In the current fiscal year, Dhangadhi received Rs 26.441 million and Bhimdatta received Rs 23.760 million.
Meanwhile, Saipal Rural Municipality will receive the lowest grant allocation, amounting to Rs 4.477 million for the upcoming fiscal year. In the current year, it received Rs 4.366 million.
