Kanchanpur: A total of 748 people have been tested for tuberculosis in a free TB screening camp conducted using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in Laljhadi Rural Municipality of Kanchanpur.

The camp was organized at four locations: Laljhadi Basic Hospital Nandgaun, Basic Health Service Center Sikalpatti, Baisebichwa Health Post, and Dekhbhuli Health Post. Service recipients received health services including X-rays. According to Dashrath Rana, Public Health Officer at the Rural Municipality Health Branch, three participants in the camp have been confirmed to have PCD (Pulmonary TB) tuberculosis.

Similarly, 23 out of 115 suspected patients have been referred to the hospital for GeneXpert testing for further examination. Officer Rana said that such technology-based camps have played an important role in making health services more accessible to citizens in remote areas.

He added that since the AI-based X-ray system enables fast and effective early screening, it helps avoid delays in diagnosis and allows timely treatment. Due to limited access to health services in rural areas, many patients are deprived of timely testing and treatment.

Dekhbhuli Health Post Chief Leelakant Jha said, “In such a situation, providing testing services close to home through camps has increased citizens’ access and helped in disease control.”

Rural Municipality Chairperson Nirmal Rana said the camp has contributed to early detection of tuberculosis, infection control, and raising public awareness in the community. He added that such programs are important as early detection enables patients to receive free treatment services and helps prevent the spread of infection.
