10-bed basic hospital with MBBS doctor begins operation in Ganyapadhura rural municipality
Dadeldhura: A 10-bed basic hospital with an MBBS doctor has been formally commissioned in Ganyapadhura Rural Municipality, a remote area of the district. The hospital, built in Dev Khet near Badal in ward number 2, the headquarters of the rural municipality, has been brought into operation.
The hospital was inaugurated by Rural Municipality Chairperson Indra Bahadur Karki. With its operation, locals will be able to access health services within the village. Chairperson Karki expressed confidence that residents of Ganyapadhura will no longer need to travel to hospitals in India, Dadeldhura headquarters, Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj, or Kathmandu for treatment.
Chairperson Karki said the 10-bed basic hospital was constructed at a cost of Rs 147.6 million from the federal government and the rural municipality. According to Rural Municipality Vice-Chairperson Gyanu Seti Deuba, health services have been initiated with an MBBS doctor.
The government led by then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had decided in 2077 BS to establish 5, 10, and 15-bed basic hospitals at local levels across the country.
Under the same program, construction of basic hospitals had also begun in Navadurga, Aalital, Ajaymeru, and Bhageshwor rural municipalities of Dadeldhura. However, hospital construction work in other municipalities is still pending.
