Smuggled Goods Seized in Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Darchula

Dhangadhi: Police have seized smuggled goods from various locations in Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Darchula districts. According to police, separate operations carried out on Tuesday led to the recovery of illegally imported goods from India worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

According to the District Police Office Kailali, abandoned goods worth an estimated NPR 143,300 were recovered from the Sisa Post area of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City–3 and the Wanipul area of Tikapur Municipality–6. The seized items included kurti sets, dhotis, sarees, suit pieces, petha sweets, slippers, and other goods. A police patrol team took the items into custody after completing the necessary procedures.

Similarly, police recovered “ice sticks” worth an estimated NPR 60,000 from Bauddhanagar in Dodhara Chandani Municipality–7. The goods had reportedly been smuggled into Nepal from India without customs clearance. A team deployed from the Area Police Office, Dodhara Chandani, found the items abandoned and confiscated them.

Likewise, goods worth an estimated NPR 31,785 were seized from Lasku Khola in Mahakali Municipality–4. According to police, the recovered items included bidis, tobacco products, cooking oil, cashew nuts, peanuts, and sugar crystals. A police team from the Community Police Service Center, Bangabagar, found the goods abandoned and took them under control.

Police said that all confiscated goods will be handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action.
