Youngsters in Shuklaphanta turn to band playing as a source of future livelihood

Kanchanpur: Youngsters from Shuklaphanta Municipality-3 are currently engaged in learning the skill of band playing.

The youths, who began learning the skill by operating a 10-member band group in their village, have purchased instruments such as trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, drums and others through their own investment and arranged a trainer to acquire the skill.

The youngsters are eager to learn the profession as the demand and importance of musical instruments continues to grow in weddings and other auspicious events. Group member Vasudev Chaudhary said that band playing serves as a means of income generation.

The instruments are used during weddings at the time of bride and groom departures, welcoming ceremonies, religious processions, and various cultural programs.

The tradition of earning income through band playing is not new in Shuklaphanta-3. A group led by Mangal Bahadur Chaudhary of the same ward has been playing at weddings and other functions for about a decade.
