Medical education commission approves scholarship grant procedure 2083
Kathmandu: The Medical Education Commission has decided to approve and issue the Scholarship Grant Procedure, 2083. The decision was made at a meeting of the Commission held today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Balendra Shah at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
According to Prime Minister Shah’s press and research expert Deepa Dahal, the Commission has resolved the legal ambiguity and problems of the past by passing the procedure within 24 hours of receiving agreement from the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Ministry of Finance.
With the addition of Section 54 (b) to the National Medical Education Act, 2075 through the Ordinance to amend certain Nepal Acts published in the Nepal Gazette, the legal basis was opened for the Commission to formulate necessary guidelines and procedures.
Earlier, due to Section 35 of the Legislation Act, 2081, all the old guidelines and procedures of the Commission were automatically invalidated, creating a legal vacuum.
A positive consensus was reached on Ashad 1 from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education and Sports to resolve the issue. The procedure has paved the way for public educational institutions to distribute grants for providing free scholarships, including postgraduate levels (DM, MCh).
This procedure has enabled the Commission to distribute grants for free scholarships at all levels, including postgraduate levels (DM, MCh), to educational institutions offering medical studies.
The meeting was co-chaired by Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta and attended by Vice-Chairman of the Commission Prof. Dr. Shree Krishna Giri and other members.
