Kanchanpur police seize illegal goods worth over Rs 53 lakh; Report 82 accidents in Jestha

Kanchanpur: The District Police Office, Kanchanpur has made public its progress report for the month of Jestha.

During the month, Kanchanpur Police carried out extensive operations to control revenue leakage from border checkpoints. The police seized illegal goods worth an estimated Rs 53 lakh that had been transported by evading customs. Authorities stated that action has been taken against two individuals involved in the illegal transportation of goods.

In addition, a total of 82 small and large road accidents occurred in Kanchanpur during Jestha, involving 57 vehicles. No fatalities were reported, but 162 people were injured, of whom 40 were rescued immediately by police.

An analysis of the accidents revealed that 81 were caused by driver negligence and one due to a technical malfunction of a vehicle. Action has been taken against 753 vehicles violating traffic rules, and a total revenue of Rs 545,000 has been collected.
