Bajura: A woman in critical condition due to severe postpartum hemorrhage has been rescued by helicopter in Bajura.

Manisha Rokaya, 26, from Kot in Gaumul Rural Municipality-5, was airlifted on Tuesday via a Nepal Army helicopter. Chief District Officer Dorendra Niraula stated that she was transported to the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet, Karnali Province, for further treatment.

According to the District Hospital in Bajura, Rokaya was suffering from excessive bleeding. Her condition had become critical due to severe hemorrhage, a low blood count of approximately 6 points, and other emerging health complications.

Rokaya had given birth at the Basic Community Health Center in Gaumul Rural Municipality-5. However, when the bleeding did not stop, her relatives brought her to the District Hospital in Bajura after a delay of nine days.

She was admitted to the hospital’s emergency ward on Monday, but doctors referred her to a better-equipped facility for advanced treatment after observing her serious condition.

Citing the risk to her life and acting on medical recommendation, the rescue was carried out via helicopter under the “President Women Upliftment Program” of the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens.
