Dhangadhi: The Nepali Congress Regional Working Committee of Region No. 5, Kailali, has recommended four names for the upcoming House of Representatives election, placing former Foreign Minister and Congress central member Arju Rana Deuba at the top of the list.

Regional President Bhim Padal said that Tuesday’s meeting recommended the names of four leaders. The recommended candidates include Arju Rana, State General Secretary Nar Narayan Shah ‘Manu’, Dilli Raj Pant—who won from the same constituency in 2079 BS—and former Dhangadhi mayor Nrip Bahadur Wad.

According to Padal, the committee ranked Arju Rana as number 1, Shah as number 2, Pant as number 3, and Wad as number 4.

The regional committee had invited interested individuals to register their names between 10 am and 2 pm on Tuesday. As only four names were submitted, all were recommended to the district committee.

Arju Rana had previously lost to UML’s Naradmuni Rana in Dhangadhi constituency during the 2074 BS election. Although she was expected to contest again from the same constituency in 2079 BS, she chose the proportional representation system instead.

Additionally, the regional committee recommended 11 names for proportional representation and three names for National Assembly membership.
