Armed Police Force and Indian border security force hold coordination meeting on border security

Mahendranagar: A divisional-level coordination meeting between the Armed Police Force Nepal and the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) concluded in Champawat, Uttarakhand, India.

The meeting, held on Thursday, focused on controlling illegal infiltration, smuggling, and drug trafficking along the border ahead of the upcoming House of Representatives elections, the Armed Police Force stated.

Both sides agreed to closely monitor potential anti-election activities, prevent illegal cross-border movement, ensure the effectiveness of border closures during the election silence period, exchange information, and control illicit activities.

The discussions also included strengthening joint and parallel border patrols to address potential security challenges during the elections and improving the efficiency of the overall security system. It was agreed that subordinate units would cooperate continuously to prevent illegal activities, unauthorized entry of third-country nationals, drug trafficking, human trafficking, counterfeit currency transactions, and arms and cash smuggling.

The Nepalese delegation was led by Senior Superintendent of Armed Police Force Digvijay Subedi, Acting Battalion Commander of Armed Police Force, Nepal No. 7 Baidyanath Battalion Headquarters, Attariya.

Representing the Indian Border Security Force were DIs Sudhansu Nautiyal and Anil Kumar Sharma from Sector Headquarters Almora and Pilibhit, along with all regiment chiefs of the Sashastra Seema Bal operating along the border with Far Western Province.

The Armed Police Force and Sashastra Seema Bal have held several coordination meetings at central, provincial, and district levels to enhance border security and collaboration.
