Nepali Congress MPs file no-confidence motion against Sudurpaschim Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah
Dhangadhi: MPs from his own party have filed a no-confidence motion against Kamal Bahadur Shah, the Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province and leader of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party.
According to Nepali Congress Sudurpaschim Province MP Diwan Singh Bista, the motion was filed with the aim of changing the leadership within the party as well as the leadership of the government. He informed that the no-confidence motion was submitted with the signatures of nine out of the 17 MPs in Nepal, excluding Prakash Bahadur Deuba, who is currently abroad.
“The issue of leadership change had been raised for a long time. As a continuation of that, we have filed a no-confidence motion with the support of nine MPs,” Bista said.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress Sudurpaschim Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Vikram Singh Dhami said that he was not officially informed about the filing of the motion.
Earlier, some Congress MPs had been urging Chief Minister Shah to resign from his post. They had also warned that he could be removed from the position of parliamentary party leader if he did not step down.
