Awasthi elected President of Rashtriya Swatantra Party Dadeldhura
Dadeldhura: Engineer Surendra Awasthi has been elected as the President of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) Dadeldhura district from its first district convention.
The convention, inaugurated on Saturday, saw most of the posts filled unanimously, but voting was held on Sunday after consensus could not be reached on the posts of Vice President and Secretary.
Madan Dhami Kushal won the election for the post of Vice President with 99 votes. His nearest competitor, Chandra Bahadur Khadka, received 27 votes.
Similarly, Tanka Awasthi was elected Secretary with 68 votes. His competitor, Sangita Bhandari, former Deputy Chief of Amargadhi Municipality, received 60 votes.
Basu Pandey has been elected Deputy Secretary from the convention, while Mina Phulara, Devsingh Bhat, Chandradev Kunwar, Santosh Air and Jitendra Jairu have been elected as members. The post of Treasurer will be nominated later.
The first convention of the Dadeldhura District Committee of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party failed to elect all office bearers unanimously due to differences among various groups. After that, elections were held for the posts of Vice President and Secretary.
A total of 171 delegates participated in the district convention. Awasthi, who was elected as President, has been re-elected as District President.
