Kathmandu: The water level of the Karnali River at the Chitwan Hydrometering Center in Achham has crossed the alert level.

The Flood Forecasting Division issued a notice at 9:05 am on Sunday, stating that the river’s water level is still rising. The division has urged residents living along the lower banks of the river and in surrounding flood-prone areas to remain on high alert until this evening.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, monsoon winds are currently affecting the country. The monsoon low-pressure line is located near its mean position in the east and north of the mean position in the west, close to Nepal.

The weather is currently generally cloudy across the country. The division said rainfall is occurring in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as Gandaki Province.
