Sharda Barrage Bans Four-Wheeler Operations as Mahakali River Crosses Danger Level
Kanchanpur: Four-wheeler operations have been banned at Sharda Barrage after the water level in the Mahakali River in Kanchanpur crossed the danger level.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Jeevan Gurung, Chief of the Area Police Office, Gaddachauki, the restriction came into effect Monday morning after the water flow in the Mahakali River crossed one lakh cusecs. He said the water flow had reached 114,000 cusecs as of 9:00 am. The Indian side imposes a ban on four-wheeler operations at Sharda Barrage when the water flow reaches one lakh cusecs.
Meanwhile, the Water and Meteorological Forecasting Division has stated that heavy rainfall has recently occurred in Baitadi, Kanchanpur, Kailali, Bardiya and other areas. The division has urged caution, warning that the water flow in the Mahakali River and small rivers in Kanchanpur could increase significantly.
