53-year-old man dies after being swept away by river in Kailali

Dhangadhi: A 53-year-old man has died after being swept away by the Mateli River in Khaireni, Godavari Municipality-4, Kailali.

According to police, Chandra Bahadur Rokamagar was swept away by the river at around 2:30 pm on Saturday while crossing the Mateli River near his house. He was found dead about 10 meters downstream.

At 9:15 am on Sunday, Tara Prasad Chhedal, a ward member of Godavari Municipality-4, informed the Temporary Police Post, Syaule, about the incident. Following the information, a police team reached the site, recovered the body and brought it home.

A five-member team, including SOCO, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Hira Singh Mahara of the Area Police Office, Malakheti, was deployed to the site for further investigation.

The incident site is about 12 kilometers north of the Temporary Police Post, Syaule. After completing the necessary procedures at the scene, police sent the body to Seti Provincial Hospital, Dhangadhi, at 11:37 am on Sunday for postmortem.
