Health Ministry Directs Hospitals Nationwide to Prepare for Heavy Rainfall

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health has directed hospitals and health institutions across the country to remain prepared following forecasts of heavy rainfall.

Citing the Department of Meteorology’s warning about potential heavy rainfall in various parts of the country and its call for necessary precautions, the Ministry has instructed hospitals to ensure they are fully prepared with appropriate management measures in place.

The Ministry has urged health institutions to remain vigilant, noting that continuous rainfall could lead to an increase in accidents, injuries, and public health issues resulting from floods, landslides, and other natural disasters.

The Ministry has directed hospitals and health institutions to ensure the availability of adequate manpower, medicines, and medical supplies. It has also instructed them to ensure the uninterrupted operation of emergency health services and make necessary preparations to prevent any disruption in healthcare delivery during disasters.

The Ministry has further requested that measures be taken to facilitate patient transfers and referrals during potential disaster events, ensure effective coordination and operation of ambulance services, and coordinate with federal and provincial health emergency operation centers as needed.

The Ministry has urged all health institutions to remain alert to health risks arising from the rainfall and undertake necessary preparations to provide immediate healthcare services during disasters.
