Nepal beat Scotland by 6 wickets as Rohit and Ishan lead commanding chase in ICC World Cup League-2
Kathmandu: Nepal defeated Scotland by 6 wickets in their third match of the ongoing ODI series under the ICC World Cup League-2. With their second consecutive win, Nepal has climbed to fifth place in the points table.
Chasing the target of 194 runs set by Scotland, Nepal comfortably reached 194 runs in 38.1 overs, losing 4 wickets. In Nepal’s victory, captain Rohit Paudel played a brilliant unbeaten half-century of 74 runs. This is his 12th ODI half-century.
Ishan Pandey completed his maiden ODI half-century with 55 runs. Opener Kushal Bhurtel contributed 28 runs while Asif Sheikh added 29 runs. Kushal and Asif built a 58-run opening partnership. Later, Rohit and Ishan guided Nepal to victory with a 104-run partnership for the third wicket.
Earlier, after winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Nepal bowled out Scotland for 194 in 39.1 overs. Nepali bowlers delivered a strong performance to put pressure on the Scottish batting lineup.
For Scotland, Brandon McMullen scored 73 runs off 44 balls, hitting 6 fours and 6 sixes. Miles English scored 51 runs, while Mark Watt added 20 runs. Opener George Munsey made 21 runs, while other batters failed to make an impact.
For Nepal, Lalit Rajbanshi took 4 wickets, while Sandeep Lamichhane took 3 wickets. Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Nandan Yadav took 1 wicket each.
Earlier, Nepal had lost to Scotland by 2 runs under the DLS method in a rain-affected first match, before securing a convincing win against the USA in the second match.
Scotland currently tops the World Cup League-2 standings, while the USA is in second place. Nepal has moved up to fifth position with 22 points from 27 matches.
