Dhangadi: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has said that the law will be properly utilized only if it is implemented responsibly towards the country and the people, not in accordance with the convenience of individuals.

Inaugurating the Seventh National Conference of Chief Advocates-2083 in Dhangadhi on Tuesday, he stressed the need to ensure equal access to justice for all citizens. He mentioned that various problems are arising in the country due to the tendency to interpret the law in one's own way.

The conference began in Dhangadhi with the main slogan 'Coordination, cooperation and effective implementation of the law - strong Chief Advocate, strong federal governance'.

Chief Minister Shah said that coordination between the three levels of government is necessary to strengthen the federal governance system, and some dilemmas remain as there is still no clarity on rights and responsibilities. He opined that mutual respect and cooperation are necessary between the federal, provincial and local levels.

According to him, federal governance can be strengthened only by moving forward by accepting each other's existence. Referring to the jurisdictional disputes between the local level and the provincial government in some places, he said it was unfortunate that the work of the provinces was being hampered even after the decision of the Federal Council of Ministers and the Supreme Court refused to issue an interim order.

The conference began under the chairmanship of Thekendra Raj Joshi, Chief Advocate of the Far Western Province. The conference, which will run until Jestha 13, will include discussions on the legal complexities seen in the implementation of federalism and the future course of action among the chief advocates of all seven provinces, legal experts and stakeholders, according to the organizer.
