Dhangadhi: Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City has decided to declare a local public holiday on Shrawan 30 on the occasion of the Teej festival celebrated by women of the Rana Tharu community.

According to the decision of the Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City Municipal Executive, the Teej festival celebrated by Rana Tharu women falls on Shrawan 30 this year, prompting the city to grant a local public holiday on the day.

A notice issued by the Sub-Metropolitan City states that the local public holiday will apply to all government offices, educational institutions and organizations within the Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City area on Shrawan 30.

Women of the Rana Tharu community celebrate Teej every year on the Shukla Tritiya of Shravan. The Sub-Metropolitan City said the holiday was decided to preserve and respect the festival, which is closely linked to the community's original culture, traditions and religious beliefs.
