Appeal to refrain from posting photos, Audio-Visual materials of flood-affected children on social media

Kathmandu: The National Council for Child Rights has appealed to all concerned not to post photographs or audio-visual materials of children from areas affected by the Bhotekoshi flood on social media and media platforms.

The council’s officer and information officer, Ram Bahadur Chand, issued a notice today urging all concerned to protect children’s privacy. The notice states that photographs and audio-visual materials related to the rescue, relief, assistance and other services provided to children affected by the devastating flood that occurred on Bhadra 10 in the Trishuli River through the Bhotekoshi should not be made public.

The council has appealed to various organizations, concerned bodies and everyone to respect and protect the privacy and dignity of children on social media and media platforms, including Facebook, Messenger, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Meta, LinkedIn, Threads, Snapchat, Viber, WhatsApp and X/Twitter, and not to upload or post photographs and audio-visual content of victimized and affected children.
