Dhangadhi to Host ‘Nau Ranga Sudurko Taranga’ Open Group Dance Competition

Dhangadhi: An open group dance competition titled ‘Nau Ranga Sudurko Taranga’ (Nine Colors, Waves of Sudurpaschim) is set to be held in Dhangadhi with the aim of preserving and promoting the indigenous art, culture, and traditions of the Sudurpaschim region.

The organizers announced that the competition will take place on Saturday, Ashwin 10, 2083, at Riddhi Siddhi Palace in Uttarbehadi, Dhangadhi. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.

According to Anil Khatri, operator of the organizing body ‘The Passion of Dance,’ the competition aims to uplift and promote popular and indigenous dances of the Sudurpaschim region and pass them on to the new generation. Special priority will be given to including local indigenous dance forms in the competition.

The winning group will receive a cash prize of Rs 20,000, along with a trophy and certificate. The second-place group will receive Rs 15,000, a trophy, and a certificate, while the third-place group will receive Rs 10,000, a trophy, and a certificate. Additionally, free dance training has been arranged as a consolation prize.

Each participating group must consist of a minimum of two and a maximum of ten members. Organizer Khatri stated that distinguished personalities from the fields of dance and culture will be present and participate in the event. Admission is free for the audience, while supporting organizations and sponsors will be specially honored.

The standard registration fee for the competition is set at Rs 2,000. However, groups registering after the initial deadline, but up to one hour before the competition begins, will be charged a fee of Rs 2,500.

Registration can be completed in person at ‘The Passion Dance Studio,’ located near Buddha Mandir at Pushpalal Chowk, Dhangadhi. Arrangements have also been made for teams unable to attend in person to register online using the contact number provided by the organizers.

The organizers have stated that they view the competition as an initiative to contribute to the preservation of the indigenous art and culture of Sudurpaschim. Furthermore, colleges, schools, dance troupes, and artists from the province have been urged to participate actively in the event. Various organizations are supporting the competition as sponsors to ensure its success.
