CM Shah proposes formation of ‘Budget Suggestion Committee’ with all-party participation
Dhangadhi: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has said that a “Budget Suggestion Committee” should be formed with the participation of all political parties for budget preparation and effective implementation. At an interaction program organized in Dhangadhi on Tuesday during the budget preparation for the fiscal year 2083/084, he pledged to distribute the budget proportionally across the province and said that a committee with representation of all parties was necessary. He informed that the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party has already formed a three-member Budget Suggestion Committee under the coordination of Chief Whip Bikram Singh Dhami. The committee includes Geeta Kumari Chaudhary and Padam Bahadur Shahi. Chief Minister Shah has directed Shivraj Bhatta to formulate a plan by prioritizing historical and religious-tourist sites. He also directed Baikantha Aryal not to implement any program through quotation and to take action against those involved in such activities. He further made it clear that the provincial government would not provide budget for projects costing less than Rs. 2.5 million and has put forward a policy of not implementing projects through consumer committees. Provincial Assembly members participating in the program suggested that sufficient budget should be allocated with priority to sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and tourism, and that emphasis should be placed on sustainable development plans.
