National Assembly MPs Urge Government to Find Long-Term Solution to Landless Settlers’ Problems

Kathmandu: Members of the National Assembly have drawn the government’s attention toward controlling inflation, creating employment opportunities, and finding a long-term solution to the problems faced by landless settlers (sukumbasis). During the zero hour of today’s National Assembly meeting, lawmakers also urged the government to focus on reducing incidents of caste-based discrimination and reviving sick and closed industries.

MP Kamala Panta demanded a government response regarding preparations to restart the Gorakhkali Rubber Industry, which she described as a matter of national pride.

MP Jayanti Rai urged the government to ensure proper management and rehabilitation of landless settlers displaced during anti-encroachment drives.

Similarly, MP Durga Gurung called on the government to develop a long-term solution to the landless settlers’ issue.

MP Nar Bahadur Bista drew the government’s attention toward ending forced foreign employment and introducing plans that would create job opportunities within the country.

MP Narayan Dutta Mishra sought the government’s commitment to protecting citizens’ rights and democracy.

MP Bhuwan Bahadur Sunar urged the government to take effective measures to control incidents of caste-based discrimination.

MP Madan Kumari Shah (Garima) stated that no one should undermine the dignity of Parliament.

MP Yubaraj Sharma highlighted issues related to good governance, inflation control, and development works, urging both the government and Parliament to address them seriously.

Likewise, MP Rajendra Laxmi Gaire advised the government to remain sensitive toward issues in the health sector.

MP Sonam Gyalzen Sherpa demanded action against vehicles violating traffic rules within the Singha Durbar premises.
