Minister Chaudhary pledges to make Lal Commission report on Tikapur incident public

Kathmandu: Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary has committed to making public the Lal Commission report related to the Tikapur incident.

Speaking at a program organized by the Tharu Welfare Society in Kathmandu on Sunday, Minister Chaudhary said the truth and facts surrounding the Tikapur incident should be made public and a just solution should be found. The Tharu Welfare Society has been organizing various programs every year on Bhadra 7 as Tikapur Uprising Day.

This year, the society organized an interactive program on ‘Tikapur Uprising, the demands and issues of the movement and the way forward’ and ‘Common issues of the Tharu community in the content of the Constitution of Nepal and the need for amendment’.

Addressing the program, Minister Chaudhary said she was raising the demands and issues of the Tharu community while serving in the government and expressed her commitment to continuing to advocate for the rights, identity and justice of the Tharu community.

She said she would take the initiative to make public the Lal Commission report related to the Tikapur incident and added that the government is serious about addressing the legitimate demands of the Tharu community.
