Cabinet decision: 15 honorary consuls to be resigned
Kathmandu: The Cabinet meeting of the Government of Nepal held on Friday has taken important decisions including convening a joint meeting of both houses of the Federal Parliament, having the President address the meeting, and dismissing 15 Nepali honorary consuls working in various countries.
It has been decided to recommend to the Honorable President to convene a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly of the Federal Parliament with the aim of presenting the policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year. As per the decision of the Cabinet, the presence of members of parliament will be requested so that the President can address the joint meeting on Monday, Baisakh 28, at 4 pm.
The meeting also decided to dismiss 15 Nepali honorary consuls (Honorary Consuls General and Consuls) working in various countries abroad on the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. With this decision, the tenure of these envoys, who have been holding the responsibility for a long time, has formally ended.
Meanwhile, the government has taken forward the ratification process of two important international conventions to make the labor sector more organized, safe and dignified. The proposal of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has been approved to submit the International Labor Organization (ILO)'s 'Forced Labor Protocol of 2014 and the Labor Inspection Convention, 1947' to the Federal Parliament for ratification.
The government believes that the ratification of these conventions will create a strong legal basis for the protection of labor rights, the safety of workers and the elimination of forced labor in Nepal.
