Kanchanpur: As the campaign for the upcoming House of Representatives elections intensifies, there has been a notable rise in oral complaints regarding violations of the election code of conduct in Kanchanpur, while only a few written complaints have been officially registered.

The Election Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee has been addressing verbal complaints immediately. According to Code of Conduct Monitoring Officer and Assistant Chief District Officer Mohan Chandra Joshi, only three written complaints have been filed so far.

“Oral complaints are being given priority and resolved immediately,” Joshi said. “The police have been instructed to remove propaganda materials that violate the code of conduct and control the use of public property for campaign purposes.” Written complaints are being investigated thoroughly, with clarifications sought from the concerned candidates or parties, evidence collected, and recommendations for action made when necessary. Joshi added that no serious code of conduct violations have been reported to date.

Political parties and independent candidates in the district have intensified their campaigns through door-to-door canvassing, corner meetings, motorcycle rallies, and tol rallies. Reports of illegal posters, banners, and noise pollution in public areas have increased, though only a limited number of written complaints have been filed.

As election campaigns expand from market areas to rural settlements, complaints have been received regarding the use of loudspeakers outside permitted hours, banners in public spaces, and improper management of processions. The monitoring team continues daily inspections to assess compliance with the code of conduct.

The committee has urged all political parties, candidates, and supporters to strictly adhere to the code of conduct to ensure a fair, impartial, and dignified election. Administration and security agencies remain on high alert to maintain a peaceful voting environment in the district.
