Low-Pressure System Weakens, Major Weather Risk Eases in Sudurpaschim

Sudurpaschim: Although rainfall continues across most parts of Sudurpaschim Province, the threat of major risk is receding.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s field office in Attariya, the risk is diminishing as the low-pressure system that developed over the Bay of Bengal gradually weakens. While continuous rainfall since the 9th of Ashwin has disrupted daily life, the danger of a major crisis is subsiding.

Office Chief Engineer Sanjay Kumar Sah stated that although the low-pressure system began to weaken this afternoon, reducing the overall risk, a state of alertness remains necessary. He noted that while there is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in the Terai region this afternoon, the forecast indicates only moderate rainfall across the province starting tonight.

For this afternoon, the forecast predicts generally cloudy skies across the province’s Himalayan, hilly, and Terai regions, with moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in many areas and heavy rain in one or two locations. From tonight onwards, generally cloudy conditions are expected to persist across these regions, with a likelihood of moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas.

By next Wednesday, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy in most areas, with a chance of moderate rain in some places, while the forecast for the night indicates generally clear skies in the Terai region.
