25-Point forest management reform report submitted to Chief Minister Shah

Dhangadhi: A 25-point report prepared by various stakeholders related to forests has been submitted to Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah. The report was prepared following a discussion and committee meeting held at the Ministry of Tourism, Forest and Environment on Kartik 28 and has been presented to the Chief Minister for implementation.

The committee that prepared the report comprised 17 members, including Hema Raj Bista, Coordinator of the Provincial Forest Directorate. The meeting, held in the presence of committee members and stakeholders, addressed challenges and solutions related to forest management, conservation, environmental reform, and community, partnership and cooperative forestry in the province.

After finalizing the report in 25 points, the committee submitted it to the Chief Minister. The letter signed by Coordinator Bista states that the ministry has been recommended to move forward with the necessary guidelines and implementation process.

The report covers issues such as reform in forest administration, strengthening community and cooperative forestry, environmental protection, proper use of forest areas, control of illegal exploitation, wildlife conservation, promotion of forest tourism, and effective management of protected areas.

The committee included representatives from the Forest Directorate, the Ministry, the Community Forestry Federation, FECOFON, the Federation of Journalists and other relevant stakeholders.

Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah of the Far West government has said that the points included in the report will be implemented on priority. He also stated that the demands will be addressed in accordance with prevailing laws.
