Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah fined for riding motorcycle without helmet

Dhangadhi: The traffic police have fined Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah for riding a bullet motorcycle without a helmet.


The District Traffic Police Office, Kailali, initiated action after a video of Chief Minister Shah riding a bullet motorcycle without a helmet went public on social media.

A team including Police Inspector Resham Acharya of the District Traffic Police Office, Kailali, reached the Chief Minister’s residence and collected the fine.

According to the police, Chief Minister Shah admitted to violating traffic rules and paid a fine of Rs 500. The traffic police have urged everyone to follow traffic rules, stating that the law is equal for all.

After the video of the Chief Minister riding a motorcycle without a helmet went public, there was widespread criticism on social media, following which the police took action as per the law.

According to the Vehicle and Transport Management Act, 2049, it is mandatory for motorcyclists to wear helmets. The act states that those found riding a motorcycle without a helmet can be fined Rs 500 for the first offense, Rs 1,000 for the second offense, and up to Rs 1,500 thereafter.

According to the District Traffic Police Office, Kailali, Chief Minister Shah was fined Rs 500 for riding a motorcycle without a helmet for the first time.
